Some personal work

To celebrate Bella’s birthday I thought I would put up a couple of images I did of Heather when she was pregnant with her. I was thinking along the lines of a Picasso line drawing with the white image (it was created by using the black image as a negative and printing through it) in mind as the final. Over time the original (black image) has really grown on me though. It is really hard for me to pick a fav between the two. Then I figured since I was putting those images up I should probably include a couple more to go with them. I do all sorts of personal projects from flowers to nudes and everything in-between. Every now and then I will have a show with my personal work but the real reason I do it is for the soul. It is an outlet to express my creative side a little more, and helps me to grow in all other areas. It is really about my love for photography and why I do what I do. The image with the high heels is a man, thought you’d like to know.

Bella's Birthday!

Today our little precious Bella turned five years old. Wow! Where does the time go? It seems like only yesterday when we were bringing her home. It scares me to think that she is already a quarter of the way to twenty. Her two best friends Hanna and Kali came over for a little party and of course Gabriel was involved too. Poor guy, he is always going to have Bella’s girlfriends hanging around. Check out the Barbi cake Heather made from scratch. She is really proud of how it came out, me too! The expression on Bella’s face says it all.

Photographers Party

The best wedding photojournalists in Western New York and Central New York got together tonight for a 2006 wedding season kickoff party and studio open house in Rochester, New York.
Neil and Liesl Cowley, Brady Dillsworth and Luke Walker hosted this excellent event at the Cowley’s downtown Rochester studio. Then we went to the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que Restaurant ...A genuine Honky-Tonk Rib Joint for more great times and food.
What really made the night extra special for me was that my good friend Shai Eynav (well known as one of the best photographers anywhere) finally had the chance to meet my son Gabriel. I will never forget calling Shai last year at 11:30 on the night we found out Gabriel had cancer, and asking him if he could cover a wedding for me the next day. Without hesitation he said he would do what ever he could to help. For this I will be forever grateful.

Amber and Lisa

After a long day of traveling, Luke and I landed in LA Friday night. On Saturday we shot the wedding with Boomer, checked into the mansion that night, did an engagement shoot on the beach Sunday morning and were pretty exhausted by the time Amber and Lisa dropped in to say hello. They asked if we could do an impromptu shoot on the beach and even though we were beat, we couldn’t say no. We rushed down to the shore to catch the last twenty minutes before the sun set and managed to come away with these images.

Mike and Ann on Newport Beach

O.K. Mike I saw your comment (thanks) and some of those pix you were talking about are ready to go. A bunch of us got together on Newport Beach to photograph one of our good friends and fellow photographer Mike Buoy and his wife Ann. They never had engagement shots done so we hit the beach one morning before we hooked up with Mike Colon. We had a lot of fun, and Ann (pregnant with their first child) was not going to let cold water hold her back. I really enjoyed meeting you two and the time we had together. I wish you much success with the photography business and many blessings with your new child and family.

Beach engagement

These images were also shot on the beach in California. I’m still trying to catch up on everything but I am constantly shooting new things for people and working on business things. There are still a couple more shoots from Cali to post and I hope to get to them as soon as possible. Boomer set us up with a Stacy & Stacy in white (he already shot their wedding) and Nathan & Kelly (he is scheduled to shoot their wedding). They were both great to work with and a lot of fun. Thanks for getting wet you guys, we know the water wasn’t exactly warm (-:

Orange County

Luke and I went to California a couple days before everybody else because we hooked up with our good friend Gregorio Bumatay to shoot a wedding together at Angelo’s and Vinci’s restaurant in old town Fullerton. The place is an old theatre full of character, and really is awesome. We had a great time shooting for Camille and Daniel (both from Costa Rica) and the guests couldn’t believe we were two guys from NY just hanging out with our friend and doing it for fun. We like to surprise people like this now and then because they pay for one professional photographer and get three. People love it and can’t thank us enough. Boomer put a slide show of our images up and it blew everybody away. After that they made us feel like a bunch of rock stars. Thank you again to Boomer and his wife Lily for giving us a place to stay, that great Thai meal, and everything else. You and your family are the best and it was such a pleasure to do this with you.

Mike Colon in California

I just returned from California where I spent a week with Mike Colon, and twenty great photographer friends from around the country. Mike is one of the most well-known and accredited wedding photographers in the world. We all learned a great deal from each other and had a lot of fun doing it. The next few posts will feature some of the images I did out there. So lets get started with some of the beach shots. I love the beach and could have stayed there and never left, but I really missed my wife, Bella, and Gabriel and couldn't wait to have them back in my arms again.
